Eco plans resubmitted
PLANS for an eco-village in the north Preselis are to be
resubmitted after Pembrokeshire councillors turned down the scheme
this week.
The proposal's backers are already working on a new business plan
and traffic management scheme and say the plans will be back before
councillors in just a couple of months.
"We really do want to get things moving on a fast track now,"
said project co-founder Paul Wimbush, of Lammas Low Impact
Initiatives.
The organisation want to build nine eco-smallholdings, a
community hub and seasonal campsite on land near Glandwr.
The application was the first the council had considered under a
new "low impact" policy introduced last year.
Members of the county's planning committee decided on Tuesday
that the scheme should be refused on the grounds that it does not
meet all the requirements of the policy.
Afterwards, Mr Wimbush said: "Councillors seemed happy about many
aspects of the scheme and asked for more work to be done on the
business plan and traffic plans and we are already getting on with
that."
He added: "When this application succeeds it will place
Pembrokeshire on the map for promoting green initiatives in the UK.
This project will show how we can bring a whole new lease of life to
our rural communities as well as providing affordable housing for
young farmers and smallholders."
Two open days planned for later this month and Haverfordwest have
been postponed and will be rescheduled once the additional
information is available.
